NOAH’S ARK

Suggested Reading: Genesis 7-8

Did you know that the Bible notes 80 species of mammals, 25 kinds of birds, 8 reptiles and 12 insects?

Key Verse: Genesis 7:1

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”

The ark was at least as big as a modern ocean liner according to the dimensions given by God to Noah. The ratio of width to length are the same. There were only eight human passengers. I’m told that the Chinese character for “safety” depicts eight people in a boat. According to the Bible, the world as we know it will again be destroyed. Next time, the ark will be big enough to hold many more than eight people. God has provided a way, through Jesus, whereby all who receive Him as Saviour and Lord will be saved. Noah must have wept as he considered the fate of others, but there was nothing he could do. There is something we can do! It’s our job to invite everyone into the Ark. Jesus is the Ark of safety!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, again and again You invited people to come to You and You promised that You would receive all who come (John 6:37). Please Lord, grant me the honour of telling someone today about Your invitation, and may I urge people to decide today to come into the eternal safety that You have provided. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

A former 100 Huntley Street TV host, Lorna Dueck, reminded me, as she helped me learn how to do a blog, that I had instructed her that we must never let a day go by on television without giving an invitation for people to respond to the call to be saved. All those wonderful people who answer 1-866-273-4444 are prepared to lead people to assurance of their eternal salvation. June 15th, 1977, was the first day we had telephones available for immediate response. Don Osborne signaled to me from across the studio that the first person had just given their life to Christ on one of our 30 telephones. I said, “Everything is paid for now, because one soul is worth more than the whole world!”

Yours very, very, very truly,

David

  1. We are saved by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. Such a beautiful message! Christian, share with others the gift of love that Jesus has so abundantly offered to us in the gospel. And as St. Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words”.

  2. Thanks, David! Great picture Reynold for Noah’s chapters … those eyes are striking! Our lives demonstrate more than we can ever know or say. We all may share the same words.

  3. David
Although I believe in the social safety net put in place in our country for those less fortunate or others who just fall on hard times, I agree that there is no better safety net than Jesus Christ. i want to continue to live my life to tell others about Jesus and rescue them from despair to hope. You continue to do that with your blog. Thank you Lorna Dueck for being such an encourager for sharing the love of God in an ever increasing hostile culture

    • Thank you David for your faithfulness in bringing us this blog every day. This is a wonderful way to walk through the entire Bible. And thank you Ronald for the beautiful photography that adds so much to the blog and gives us a glimpse of life in Jesus time.
We are all being truly blessed.

  5. Praise the Lord for your ministry and all those souls that have been, are being and will be saved through it. I am a humble servant, but I don’t yet know how to walk side by side with God. Please pray for discernment and obedience for me! Thank you, ever so much for your faithfulness to serve for the Lord God’s Kingdom. As I was told when I was lost, “I am worth it” and so is each and every one of the lost children out there. My heart aches for them. Even those who laugh and scorn, because they don’t know how to love or to be loved. Bless you David!

  6. David
What a beautiful message and prayer. We need not only speak the invitation
but also show it in our actions everyday in the world around us. I am glad
    I believe in Jesus Christ.

  7. Thank you David for letting God use you. I’ve been a Christian for a long but this is the first time that I’ve truly understood what it means to have a personal relationship, and finding myself craving the Word!

  8. I responded to that call. March 4th 1998, I was going through a dark time, and was depressed and not taking care of me. I got very sick with a cold, and was lying in my living room, with the only light in the room coming from the t.v. I was flipping the channels, and saw the face of a kind and caring man. I actually passed the channel, and came back to it. This same kind and caring man stared straight at me through the t.v. and invited me to place my hope and trust in Jesus Christ. My life is SO-O-O changed! I am eternally grateful to David Mainse and 100 Huntley Street! And, of course, the King of Kings, who arranged for me to land on that (previously unknown to me) tv station!

  9. We so appreciate the way you put that David. Everything is paid for now, because the first soul has just been lead to Jesus and that is worth the whole world. How quick we can forget that sometimes. Bless you.
