THE BLAME GAME

Suggested Reading: Genesis 3 and 4

On the lower slope of the Mount of Olives is the Garden of Gethsemane. Some of the olive trees here are over 2,000 years old - perhaps this tree was one that Jesus rested under or that His disciples slept against. The church you see in the background is the Church of All Nations.

Key Verse: Genesis 3:12

“Then the man said, ‘The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.'”

A most important Word that Jesus used over and over is “Repent.” Adam and Eve give us examples of what repentance is NOT! They attempted to blame others for their sin. Adam blamed both God and Eve. Eve blamed the serpent. The message is, stop the “blame game.” Pray the sinner’s prayer which Jesus guaranteed would make a person right with God: “God be merciful to me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13). Two verses following the key verse, God Himself gives the first prophecy. He speaks of a most unique event to come. All through the Bible in procreation, it’s the seed of the man. e.g. Abraham (Galatians 3:29), but Jesus is the “Seed of the woman” (Genesis 3:15). He crushes Satan. Satan comes in many forms to tempt us. Remind him that his head is crushed by Jesus. Jesus gives us power (authority) to join Him in trampling on the serpent and “Nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). Confess it! Believe it!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, You and I are “trampling” on the serpent. James wrote,”Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). I do this now, Lord Jesus. The devil has no power over me. In Your authority, Lord Jesus, I pray. AMEN!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Every day before going live to air with the daily “100 Huntley Street” telecast, I would state in front of the other hosts, the on-air guests, and the studio audience, words something like this…”We trample on Satan in Jesus Name! We pull down the ‘strongholds’ of the enemy” (2 Cor 10:4). On the human level we do not defend ourselves. No offense, only loving one another. “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places” (Eph 6:12). Throughout thousands of telecasts, Jesus did mighty works in precious lives.

To the new on-air team and every reader of my blog, KEEP TRAMPLING!

David

  1. It is a blessing to read your comment and meditate on the Word through the day.I’m always amaze by the picture of Holy Land.Never been but now can walk a little bit every day.I enjoyed reading your comment and what the topic is every day.

  2. Lord Have Mercy on us….
    Bless you David…

I love the picture today of the Tree… it is like being there throught the pictures..Thank you for ( Sharing ) with us…as we continue the Journey..Heading Home…

  3. Loving Gods Word, your words and Reynold’s photos! The new growth on the old olive trees I am told come right up from the roots. The old trunk is decaying, but the roots are full of life and nourish the new shoots. There is a parallel here to our Jewish roots and the many Christian saints that have gone before and inspired us. You sir are an inspiration to us all! When I saw you on the 50th Anniversary broadcasts, I could see that you also are like that olive tree, still full of life through the Spirit of God. I salute you sir and the One True God that sustains you!

  4. Pride is evident everywhere today, just as it was back in the beginning in the Garden of Eden when the first sin was made. Today our world is full of those who love to play the “blame game”, personal responsibility is vanishing. At the root is sin as David noted, but we need to be particularly aware of pride because pride keeps us from admitting our sin in humble repentance before a holy God. A favourite author of mine, Charles Stanley, says in his notes .. “Why does God hate human pride so much? Because it is the one sin that keeps us from allowing God to use us for His purposes. When we commit ourselves to doing things our way, we are in no position to do things God’s way. Pride renders us useless in the kingdom of God. We fall prey to pride when we forget that God does not exist for us, but we exist for Him.” It is good to check our pride once in a while because the Bible warns us that “pride goes before destruction” (Prov. 16:18). With God’s help we can receive strength to overcome pride.

  5. Praise the Lord. Each day I am reminded of the spirtual journey we made
to the Holy Land. Todays photo brought back the many meditations made
while in Israel. Your daily 100 words give me encouragement each day as
    I start the day.

  6. Placing responsibility for our own actions on anyone other ourselves only means we are likely to repeat the same behaviour. Adam reached out and took the apple, which may just as well have been on the ground. He new it was wrong. Eve need only account for her own actions. Both live with the consequences.

  7. It is wonderful to get a peek at the Holy Land each day. These photos and your insightful comments help to make the Bible come alive. Many thanks.

  8. Life makes total sense when we connect with it’s Divinity. Becoming still, we connect with God and the connecting with God is a connection with all that matters.

  9. Yes David, we are l00% with you,we will trample down the enemy of our Souls together, and together we will use the Word of God and shout the VICTORY!

You make me want to cry with joy. I am so grateful to you for all your efforts and faithfulness. P.S. The photos are a true blessing.
(Is it possible to get the emails to have less width on the screen so a person could scroll down for the sentence instead of needing to scroll sideways? or is it just my screen that does that, however it is not a big deal, if not)

  11. David, I read or recite Ephesians 6:10-18 everyday and yesterday I started reading verses 19 and 20. Right away God gave me the opportunity to speak the truth to someone. It was actually about the way she used the word “wicked” to describe something that was beautiful. I told her it didn’t sit right in my spirit. Our whole group has been reciting these verses from Ephesians -NIV, but then I saw the king James version . Wicked is evil. (Period)

  12. we have to put on the full armour of god on every day and so that satan will flee
David bless you all that you do and all crossroads has down all these years to reach the lost
