A majestic view of the Church of All Nations that is built over the spot where Jesus prayed through the night in the Garden of Gethsemane on the night of His arrest.

Key Verse: John 18:36a

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world…”

The kingdom of Saul, David and others was a small geographic entity known as Israel. At the time of our reading, Israel was known as Palestine, and was a province of the Empire ruled over by the Roman Caesar. But Jesus declares the fact that His Kingdom is the entire planet and beyond to the entire universe. With Jesus’ response to the representatives of an earthly political entity when they said that they were seeking Jesus of Nazareth, He demonstrated His total authority when He spoke that Name given to Moses from the burning bush, “I am He.” The detachment of troops and officers from the chief priests fell backward on the ground at His Name!!!

Let’s back up to chapter 17. This is Jesus’ powerful prayer to His Father. This prayer was answered with a resounding “YES!” His followers did maintain unity most of the time, and as a result, over two billion people on earth today claim to be Christians. When the world sees that we are one, as Jesus prayed, they believe that the Father sent His Son. Please read again John 17:20-26.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that I, as one who seeks to follow Your Son and my Saviour, Jesus Christ, will be one with my brothers and sisters as You and Your Son, Jesus, are one. I’m totally confident that as the world around me sees that love in me and the unity that I have with my fellow believers, more and more will believe that You sent Jesus. In His Name, Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The Internet connects in a way which is important, but not really personally in a close friendship where I can put my arm around someone who is weeping or dance with someone who is rejoicing. This happens when believers come together in person. This “coming together” is “ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.” As a leader of an international ministry with a good size full-time team and many part-time volunteers, I would bring together the other leaders to establish the budget. I would go over everything carefully that we were doing and ask the team to categorize all our commitments under three headings: (1) Necessary (2) Essential (3) ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. Then we would eliminate the necessary and the essential, keeping in the budget only the ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL!!! The teaching of Jesus in today’s reading is the ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for the cause of bringing lost precious people to Him. Without the unity for which He prayed, I fail miserably in the call He has placed on my life. The Father is answering Jesus’ prayer 24/7.

Yours for the Father’s answer in all of our lives,

David

  1. Block lettering emphasizes how crucial your words are. Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

  2. Soaking with you this morning David for healing…of the Body…But yes we are Healed … by his stripes….He took our disease to the cross…thank you Jesus..and i smiled when you said….its a short journey from Jerusalem to Heaven…. May God continue to Bless you and give you Strength for all He has left for you to do….

Beautiful picture this morning Reynold…and a teaching abut the ( ? ) Mark .. Have a great son/filled Day….as we journey in all He has for us today…..His Will …..Will be done…..

  3. I have come back to God and I read God’s word here only. I try to be faithful and read it daily but I struggle. I am not attending church and now see the value of finding one. Please keep me in your prayers.

    • Camille, the more you call out to Him for help, the more He will draw you in to Him, the more you will want to know Him more. Have patience. After over 20 years of being a Christian, I am only now studying the Bible and not only learning much about our Father, but about how he has steered my life along the way. I now look back and see things I did not see before by having read more of the Bible. He is revealing to me how His hand was always on my life, bringing me closer to Him. Difficult to explain here…
Just know that only He knows you best and knows what you need and will provide for you. Just keep seeking Him! : )
Just sent up a prayer for you!

  4. God’s grace, provided through God’s Word is enough at all times and in all circumstances. Spoken with force “My grace is sufficient for you”-2 Corinthians 12:9, rest in assurance that GOD’S GRACE IS ENOUGH.. Events in my life and desires of my heart unfolding in perfect ways, Grace abounds in and through me and all around me, now. Let the Lord be magnified that hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. Psalm 35:27.

  5. A couple of suggestions for Camille: when you click on to the Scripture reading here, then go to the audio option and enter the today’s reading. Then you can listen if reading is a problem. Another option is find ” Daily Audio Bible with Brian Hardin ” Brian was a guest on 100 Huntley Street at one time. A comment on quotation mark errors: I prefer to use my I-Pod over the Lap top; quicker and less problems I find. Also, Camille, if it’s any consolation, I struggle with Church as well! Have a great day, everyone.

    P. S. Forget Haloween; It’s not Christian! We must do and involve ourselves only in what honours God!! Amen.
