Key Verse: Romans 5:8, 6:23

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us…For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What an encouragement! Sublime truth! When we stand firm on the foundation of God’s truth we truly have peace. We are free from guilt. We move into the future with full confidence in God’s infinite love. Eternal life is ours now. We don’t have to wait until we die to find out where we will spend eternity. This assurance is not presumption. It’s simply and humbly taking God at His Word (God would never lie to us!), confessing that Word, and believing that Word at all times. Amen! Chapter six states the fact that we who believe are dead to sin. Romans 6:11 states the truth that we are to “reckon” ourselves “dead indeed unto sin.” “Reckon” is a mathematical term. Just as sure as 2 X 2 = 4, so it’s a fact that we who believe have died with Christ on the Cross. He bore our sins, and us too. The gift of faith enables us to believe this, and that same faith enables us to live our lives as dead to sin and “alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We may want to read these chapters again in the next 24 hours. Let us read slowly and deliberately, soaking in every Word. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I confess the fact that I am dead to sin!!!…and that I’m alive to God. I truly believe this. Therefore, I will not let sin reign in my mortal body. Lord Jesus, You reign as my absolute Monarch. Your power enables me to do only what is right. Thank You for victorious Christian living. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Along with learning and believing the truth that sets me free, I had to learn what John taught in his first epistle, chapter one. I realized that I must make a daily choice to “walk in the light.” Again and again, I read and quote from memory 1st John 1:5-10. If I had not made this truth an integral part of my daily life, I would’ve been discouraged. God’s Word is light. I learned that in order to walk in His light, I must read His Word without fail each day. This blog is my way of turning on a light in the darkness, so that I’ll see the path ahead, not stumbling and falling into sin. John was writing to his fellow believers, reminding them, and himself, that no one can say “we have no sin” and “we have not sinned.” I recognize that I am being constantly cleansed in God’s eyes by the Blood of Jesus Christ. God sees me through the lens of Jesus’ sacrificial death on my behalf. Thank You, thank You, thank You, Jesus!!!!!

Yours for walking every day in the Light of God’s Word,

David

P.S. For many years now I have tried my best to be faithful each morning to quote under my breath, so as not to waken Norma-Jean when I first wake up, Galatians 2:20. “I am crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

  1. I remember being at Wesley Acres, 5 or 6 years ago, when David was there. speaking. He recited Paul’s words in Galatians 2:20. I memorized them that week-end and have said them as part of my morning prayer, ever since. When we are down and tied to the pain of the world, it is easy for us to forget Christ is living in us and we can conquer all things through Him. We need only be reminded by scripture to be strengthened and not let ourselves get so caught up in our emotions. I write this to myself as a reminder, as I so often fail in this regard. Wishing all saints a blessed day in the Lord.

But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5-6

You know when you wake up with a song playing in your ears about your love for Jesus, saints? Wow!! How invigorating, how illuminating, how divine!!

    • so appreciate you honesty Beverlee Kay! I do the same! I get caught up in my emotions but then I look at the sun/moon/stars/a blade of grass and realize that God is right beside me all the time! He is with all of us always! I laugh when I pray because God knows my heart and my words even before I speak! HOWEVER like my earthly father, our Heavenly Father likes to hear us ask for things or express our emotions, He totally understands us!

Please pray the Lord will enter my neighbour’s heart and he will be quiet until after noon, pray that I will be civil to him, prayer of thanks for my home and car. Blessings to all……in Jesus Name AMEN

  2. Thank you for the suggestion for the morning. I invite Holy Spirit each day. Sometimes quietly every morning. Walking in the light each day so good. Praise be to God.

  3. So much to “glean” from today’s reading!
How blessed we are to have received the gift of forgiveness! To know that we are being cleansed continually by the precious blood of Our Saviour. Glory be to Him forevermore!

May the revelation of these truths “sink” into our spirits and our minds.
Galatians 2:20 is also one of the scriptures I like to recite on a regular basis.

A blessed day to each and everyone of you, dear saints.

  4. We are to reckon ourselves dead unto sin and alive unto Christ, the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. Amen? Lot of deep truths to meditate on this morning. Read them in the early morning and also wake up with a song Beverlee. Need to repeat Gal. 2:20 every day again too. Getting another snowstorm today. Blessings saints.

  5. Several times while reading today I felt I could not measure up to David’s expectations for himself…Then I remembered what my friend and mentor often quoted to me.It was Phil. 1:6_”….he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”….It’s a lifelong process, each day so each day we must remember to ‘shower in His blood’ for it’s His blood that cleans us each day.

    Where He Laid

My name is Paul,I was the worst,
For I beat and killed God’s chosen
When I had an unquenchable thirst,
For my heart was captive and frozen.

But then one day I was made blind,
So that I could see truth and love,
When I met more love than I could find
After I was made low from above.

The god of this world keeps us bound
Until the truth sets each one free
And the chains fall freely to the ground
When grace gives sight that we all may see.

So I will serve Him all my years,
And since my debt is fully paid,
My face will be washed in happy tears
For the tomb is empty where He laid.

    Forgive Myself

    Does God ever make mistakes,
Does He regret where He has led
When each step His child takes
Dries up the blood His Son has shed.

Now I fear I am now lost,
When I try to do what is right,
    For mistakes are the cost
But it’s His blood that wins my fight.

    So forgive myself I must,
For,if not, then in vain He died
And I would yield His trust,
Then they could say my Savoir lied.

So get back upon your feet
And know Satan is a liar
    Cast down in his defeat
To burn ever in hell fire.

    No,God never makes mistakes,
But His ways are above our own,
    So know,each child He makes
Is of the holy seed He’s sown.
