WORDS OF TRUTH

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 22

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

A mother and her children enjoy some moments together at Nazareth Village. The people who demonstrate life as it was 2,000 years ago are dedicated believers in Jesus. Most of them are members of the Nazareth Baptist Church. Rev. Nizar Shaheen, my son-in-law, was ordained as a Minister of Christ in this church. The church operates a school, kindergarten through high school, that has about 1,000 students. Let us pray for this church, and others in Nazareth, as they face some difficult times.

Key Verses: Proverbs 22:20-21

Have I not written to you excellent things
Of counsels and knowledge,
That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth,
That you may answer words of truth
To those who send to you?

The translation used in this blog is the New King James Version. I hope to do as our key verse says. There is counsel and knowledge here in this daily  blog. There is “certainty of the words of truth.” Amen!!!

Let us consider another proverb found in Proverbs 22:2. “The rich and poor have this in common, the Lord is Maker of them all.” Rich and poor have more in common than this. He is the only Saviour. He is the Judge of the universe and everything in it. He is Lord to all who give Him our lives. No matter how much money anyone has, salvation cannot be purchased by money. No matter how poor anyone is, they cannot be refused salvation, providing they ask in repentance and faith, because eternal life was paid for in full by Jesus Christ on the Cross! Salvation is free to all who come to Jesus and ask to be saved. If we have further questions about our eternal salvation, call our Crossroads prayer line at 1-866-273-4444. A loving caring person will answer. About 1,000 people every day call that number!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I’m going back to the key verse again and forming it into a prayer so that I may help others more and more. I also pray again that prayer which rich or poor must pray in order to have assurance of salvation and eternal life. “Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.” I have confidence that You save me because Jesus said so (Luke 18:9-14). Yes! Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I’m using consistently the New King James translation of the Bible. Today I want to tell a story of the giving heart of the largest publisher of Bibles in the world, Sam Moore, the man who, along with God, is the main reason we have the “New King James Version.”

In 1983 my daughter married a young man from Cana of Galilee, the village famous for Jesus’ first miracle, turning the water into wine at a wedding feast. Sam Moore printed 2,000 Bibles in Arabic and embossed the names of Ellen and Nizar on the cover as gifts for all who attended. Nizar, as the heavy-weight boxing champion for the Galilee area, attracted at least 2,000 men, mostly Muslims, to his wedding. The Word of God was put into their hands. Now many of these same men listen to the Gospel daily as Nizar shares the Word of God on television. Sam will be embarrassed to read this here, but I want to honour this man who paid for a wonderful honeymoon for these newlyweds. These are just two more reasons why I quote the NKJV.

Yours for the “Words of Truth” to be made known!!!

David

  1. I remember well the marriage ceremony on TV. Amazing witness & news worthy to all. Proverbs are beautiful & a great teaching tool for us all. Thank you all family.

    • Beverlee, for some reason ? …I can not write without each line having a ‘rhyming partner’ so as an amateur,I wonder why the great ones did not??(It’s usually easy.)

And music shall fill the night,
As the cares that infest the day
Fold their tents at first light
      And silently steal…away.
Somehow,it doesn’t flow as nicely by an amateur.

    • Dear Bill,

I am not sure I am understanding your comment. I read Longfellow’s prose and it flows brilliantly. I believe it has to do with the pauses. Perhaps, if commas were included, it would sound better to you. Try it this way:

And the night, shall be filled, with music,
And the cares, that infest, the day,
Shall fold, their tents, like the Arabs,
      And, as silently, steal away.
      -Longfellow

I just melt when I hear these words.
      They flow, so effervescently,
      To tingle our souls!
      God bless you!

  2. It warms my heart knowing that Ellen and Nizar could not afford a lavish honeymoon but a rich man provided a deserving couple with one.Indeed Sam is a good man. What better business than printing the Lord’s word? How can he loose?
The proverbs are full of great wisdom.
    ‘God blesses all who read,|
And God knows each who heeds.’GWM
FWI:I did not sign nor date my poems for over a year until Facebook posted 3-5 more names the same as mine, one of them a professional authour/poet in Ct so I had to do so and add my initials to distinguish us.(Should I add this humourous similar (Unrelated) story??Why not?)
Earlier this year a lady on FB asked a puzzling question (can’t remember just how it all went.) so I went to her Timeline and found there was another Bill Marshall,a pastor in Florida who she thought was the writer of ‘my’ poems.I think we all got a laugh. He is also now a FB friend.
‘Betty’ was a loving Christian from Toronto who moved in across the street. She walked with two canes and had been a probationary officer in Toronto. She went home a couple years after I moved up country and would be so happy to know ‘I am saved’.

    Bright Star Of Tomorrow

    Oh,Betty,if you knew me now,
You would smile with such delight,
For I have finally seen how
    The Lord distributes His light.

I hope the angels have told you
That this sinner’s bound for home
So that when my days here are through,
    In eternity I’ll roam.

When the water became my grave,
    It was only confirmation,
For I was His alone to save,
    To share in His creation.

He led me to serve in darkness,
Where He led me with His light
To show in their world of starkness
A lamp to flee from the night.

In those pits of great sorrow,
A garden for love to grow,
From that bright Star of tomorrow,
Shone light where there was no glow.

But that prison is still secure,
For doubt makes the strongest chains,
So how can I make them sure
That faith will destroy their pains.

I can do nothing all alone,
It is He who does it all,
For in our sin none can atone,
But for Him,Who took the fall.
    G W(Bill) Marshall/16 Sept, 2015

    • PRAISE THE LORD WILLIAM MARSHALL

      THEY ARE WONDERFUL!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE IN JESUS NAME!
      amen

  3. Lord God, You tell us your Word is forever true, and your Spirit confirms it to us. Please bring your Word to our ‘progressive’ leaders, as in v.28:
“Do not remove the ancient landmark
    Which your fathers have set.”
In the beginning, You made men and women, not a spectrum of genders.
    You said homosexuality is wrong.
You tell us to use prudence and plan carefully, which our current federal leaders don’t seem to be doing, except in vote-winning strategies.
Lord, we pray for our leaders, that You will bring godly men and women, who heed your Word, into prominence. Please guide our leaders into good, just, and right decisions, and open their hearts to Truth. You, Lord, are True.
    I ask in Jesus’s ever-faithful name, amen

  4. Amen, Rob. I agree wholeheartedly. How can we expect our beautiful country to be blessed with such unrighteous laws being pushed forward, for example the latest C-45. Of course, we all know this. Lot of good proverbs today. Looking forward to seeing our dear Norma-Jean on Crossroads today. Thanks Beverlee for your songs.

I also ask for prayers for the new Owner or Manager to change his heart also! He needs to get to know people first before making judgments!
Lord please help me, In Jesus Name amen

    • Sah,I’ve prayed the prayers above. My exwife said horrible things about me,probably for years, behind my back and I had not a clue anyone could be so twofaced.Everything fell into place as to why people would stop talking to me suddenly over the years when she presented to my lawyer a sworn statement to that effect moments before we entered the courtroom for our final divorce proceeding.
People who are Bi Polar will often go to extreme measures to destroy anyone who disagrees with them. You may be dealing with someone like that and it may take years for people to catch on for they are skilled actors and only move on to a new circle of ‘friends’ once they are found out.God bless
