LOYAL HEARTS AND WILLING MINDS

Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 28

Zedekiah’s Cave, an extension of Solomon’s Quarries, is a 5-acre underground meleke limestone quarry that runs the length of five city blocks under the Old City of Jerusalem. It was carved over a period of several thousand years and is a remnant of the largest quarry in Jerusalem. Here is the path that leads down into the depths of the quarry.

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 28:20

And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God — my God — will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord…”

Young Solomon must have been overwhelmed by the challenge facing him. God had called him to follow his father as king. His first task was to oversee the building of the Temple in Jerusalem on Mt. Moriah. But, along with the calling, God gave Solomon instructions and a promise.

First, Solomon was to know the God of his father and to “serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind” (28:9).

Second, Solomon was encouraged to “Be strong and of good courage and do it” (28:20a).

Third, his father assured him that God would be with him and that God would not leave him or forsake him (28:20b).

When God calls us to do His work we must do it without fear, knowing that He will accomplish His purpose through us.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I need Your provision in order to accomplish Your purpose. Here I am, Lord, at Your service. Please grant me a loyal heart and a willing mind. With heart and mind focused on doing Your will, I know I will succeed. In the Name of Jesus, the One who did Your will 100% of the time, I pray, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

When I saw the number “100” on the front of the building on Huntley Street in downtown Toronto, I knew, without a doubt, that God wanted Crossroads to renovate and occupy that building. Recently I walked down that street and marvelled at God’s provision back in 1977. The building where the 100 Huntley Street telecast originated is gone now and the head office of the cable TV and telecommunications giant, Rogers Communications, is there. Our lease on the building at 100 Huntley Street ended and, like Solomon might have been with the Temple, I was almost overwhelmed at the building challenge that faced us. I marvel at God’s call and His provisions! In the Spring of ’92, we dedicated to God the new 143,000 square foot building known as the “Crossroads Centre” in Burlington, Ontario. God has done amazing things through the faithful support of His loyal people, our partners in ministry. If you have not had the opportunity to visit the Crossroads Centre, we would love to see you.

Yours because of God’s gift of loyal hearts and willing minds,

David

Another view inside Zedekiah’s Cave/Solomon’s Quarries.

You can see the walls of Jerusalem above the bedrock of the Quarry. Here is one of the entrances to Zedekiah’s cave. Just to the south is the area where the Temple was built, and to the north on the other side of the quarry is the rock wall considered by many as the Place of the Skull. This is Mt. Moriah where Abraham was about to offer Isaac as a sacrifice when God said that He would provide the sacrifice. Jesus, the Son of God, was that Sacrifice offered on this mountain (Genesis 22:1-18).

  1. I was at the dedication of the building in 1992 along with my friend, Verona. She had arranged for a bus and provided a boxed lunch for the passengers who came from Toronto. What a marvelous building. May The Word continue to go out over the air until Jesus returns!

  2. Blessed again today….thank you Pastor David!

I continue to pray for your health, your ministry and now added LORNA Dueck
fir her creativity and energy from the Holy Spirit. In Jesus Blessed Name AMEN

  3. Yes, my mother Alice and I attended in 1992 as well. Was mother’s first flight and was one of the highlights of our lives. God bless you David, family and all staff members of 100 Huntley St.

  4. Yes I have been to that marvellous building way back then and Norma-Jean introduced herself to those of us having a snack while visiting the Tabernacle outside.
I needed our verse today as my dr. has told me today I may have a tumor on the C3 vertebral in upper neck. This needs more looking into with my oncologist but I would appreciate prayers in the meantime. Our verse today along with Psalm 19 was my strength when first had BC in 1993 and again in 2011.
I continue in prayer for you Pastor David and family as well as our blog family even although I don’t post a lot.
Trusting in Jesus. God is good All the Time.

    • Lord I heard a song that said “You have the whole world on Your shoulders” therefore it is not a problem for You to hold Catherine on Your shoulders and to carry her through this challenge of perhaps a tumor on the C3 vertebral in upper neck! You Lord have a plan for her; You have heard and seen her prayer; You Lord have the cure in Your Hand and we pray that You will touch Catherine in the upper neck and the entire area will be healed in Jesus Name and we Lord give You all the glory, honor and praise forever and ever amen
We wait with great anticipation that she is completely healed! WE DANCE WITH JOY! WE DANCE WITH GREAT CELEBRATION IN OUR STEPS! WE THANK YOU LORD, AMEN AMEN AMEN

  5. Lord Jesus I lift up Catherine before You and I pray for Your intervention in her life at this time. I ask Lord for total healing for her, and that her back will be void of any tumor, and I stand against any fear within Catherine’s heart that may have come in when she heard the doctor’s diagnosis. Lord Jesus I thank You for hearing and answering this prayer…that Your Highest and best be done, Amen!!

  6. Thank you Pastor David for your faithfulness in bringing this daily spiritual food to us. I pray for God’s continual healing for you and I pray for Norma-Jean and her faithfulness in standing with you all these years. And I pray for your family and their part in bringing this blog to us daily.

    • Your right Catherine! The Lord has both; living and loving arms! What a joy for all of us!
And so should we reach out with living and loving arms also! PRAISE THE LORD!

    • Dear Brother in Christ

I don’t know you situation but I have struggled with this myself in the past and what helped me was when the Holy Spirit told me to change my focus from what does God want FROM me, to what does God want to do FOR me.

Scripture is clear God wants to forgive us, to save us, to heal us, to redeem us, to give us peace, but most of all God wants to lavish His love on us.
When we focus on what He wants to do for us– we are in a better position to follow, to surrender and to love God back because we understand God only wants our good. If we focus too much on doing things for God, like God is our employer and we are His employees– it gives the enemy way too much room to mess with our minds– to whisper how we don’t measure up to God’s standards, how we are letting God down, how worthless we are in our witness, etc—-

remember there is nothing you can do that will make God love you less and there is nothing you can do that will make God love you more— Conviction is gentle– condemnation is harsh and is usually the enemy at work

I am praying for you– and I hope you found what I have share helpful—
