THE PROMISED LAND

Today’s Reading: Numbers 33-34

The Dead Sea road follows the contour of the rugged terrain.

Key Verse: Numbers 33:53b

…for I have given you the land to possess.

Yesterday, Reynold’s photograph was of “The Great Sea,” the Mediterranean. Today it’s of “The Salt Sea,” or the Dead Sea. Both Seas are mentioned twice in today’s reading. “The Sea of Chinneret,” known now as the Sea of Galilee, is referred to once. Geography is obviously important to God. The 1948 miracle of the establishment of Israel as a sovereign nation for the first time in over 2,000 years, and the introduction of Hebrew as a language of daily life for the first time in over 2,500 years, has never happened to any people group before in human history. Israel is now on the land promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob 4,000 years ago.  Israel is surrounded by 22 countries which are hostile to its very existence. These countries have 640 times Israel’s land mass and 60 times her population, and they have most of the oil that we know about in the Middle East. Was Israel pushed into the sea as Egypt’s Nasser said? Will it be wiped off the map as Iran’s Ahmadinejad said? Keep reading the Bible. Watch and pray. We’ll soon discover the answer to that question.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray for insight in my understanding of ancient and modern Israel. Help me in as few words as possible to communicate Your heart to others. May I think Your thoughts after You. As Samuel said to You, Lord, I say also: “Speak, for Your servant hears.” Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

You may want to join me in reading the story of God speaking to Samuel (1 Samuel chapter 3). Yesterday I recorded 15 more vlogs, video editions of this blog’s Bible teaching segments (“vlogs”). God sometimes speaks through dreams or visions, but 99% of the time it is through our reading and meditating on His Holy Word (click here for yesterday’s vlog). Today’s blog is posted at 6 a.m. but the vlog for today won’t be online until around noon. Psalm 107 says,  “He sent His Word and healed them.” I’m now 2 1/2 years past the date of my appointment with death, according to the medical professionals. Twice now my wonderful oncologist was present when I thanked the medical team for all their help. He pointed up and said, “And you’ve had lots of prayer too.” True!…and I’ve also received the daily injection of God’s Word in reading the Scriptures and writing this blog. That’s powerful medicine!!!

Yours with the prayer that I’ll be a help in Christian growth and healing,

David

  3. Oh David I so enjoy your vlog. I learn so much.

I am so thankful to see you looking more healthy day by day .

    Thank you Jehovah-Rapha Jehovah Jireh.

Again I thank you precious Lord Jesus for answering our prayers.

I pray You give your faithful servant David the desires of his heart.

  4. I’m reminded of the Scripture . Hebrews 13:14 “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come”, when considering the Wanderings of Israel. . In due course there was a Rest… and so there will be for God’s children … in a New City.

  5. Thank you David. I know I can trust God in you. It was years ago that I saw you on tv and knew that you are sincere, a Christ bearer. You have helped my faith by your life, your love, and example. When I think of you it gives me hope and peace. Thank you

  6. Thank you pastor David for making this happen every morning! Our granddaughter said to her farm gramma ,grampa is listing to God.So thankful for God’s son Jesus who made it so easy to come before God’s throne! Everybody needs to read Numbers! Pray for safe journey for our new pastor that is driving today from Sudbury to Saskatchewan.

  7. Am praying for the peace of Jerusalem and the salvation of Israel every day. So glad you are with us David and you were able to do another session of videos. God is so good. When I think back on the people in my experience who received the strap it was always the unfortunate ones who had poor home environment. Today that makes me sad as they needed loving care. I still believe in counsel and discipline however and one in particular still goes to church I believe.

  8. Praise God for His continued healing touch on you David, and I pray for total healing for you, In the Mighty Name of Jesus, the Great Physician!!!

Good to hear your expressive voice as you present the “vlog” each day.

God’s blessings on you and your family and all that put together this daily bread!

Blessings all you bloggers…have a wonderful day!

  9. I am so deeply saddened by some of the comments from yesterday!
I am FLOORED that some people actually think that hitting a child or a person is ok!
Our jails are full of men mostly because of the abuse they received in their younger years!
Have you ever heard of Dr. Phil McGraw! He certainly would not agree that hitting a child or a person is going to straighten them out!!!!!
I am so upset, I can’t believe the thinking of people who think that hitting, smacking, pushing, a child or another person is ok!
I was hit and I hated my parents for years! I have forgiven them now; but I am so sorry that I did the same thing to my children when they were little! And why did I do this? Because that was done to me!
I was so wrong, I am so sorry, Lord, I am so very sorry, please forgive me!
Since I am on this path I want to point out that I am very watchful about grandparents, especially the grandfathers! My grandfather was great! He never abused me in any way! However not all grandparents are good to their grandchildren!!

One more rant! if you ever suspect that an adult is acting in appropriately around children, talk to the police, better safe than sorry!

Our country has it all wrong! Every family should have a counsellor when the children start school! There should be a counsellor in every grade, these counsellors will be trained and screened for any record of any sort; and the counsellors should be available to the students from grade 1 to grade 12!
When children are going through tough times, the counsellors should be available to talk with and discuss situations that will arise in a child’s life, bullying, divorce, drug abuse, etc etc…….etc etc etc……
if children get this help through their 12 years they will be better equipped to handle their life!

We need counsellors in every school! WE DO NOT NEED MORE JAILS!

    • With all due respect, Sah, everyone is different and entitled to his or her opinion. The people on this blog are not suggesting beating a child but discipline to teach right from wrong, and hopefully once or twice is enough. Some of us don’t agree with it but let us respect other’s points of view, that men need be shown a strong hand early on to learn obedience. That is their right to believe and live. From pain, there is always the greatest opportunity for growth in coming to the higher place of embracing forgiveness, and in so doing, freeing our parents from the wrongs they committed upon us, and in the same breath forgiving ourselves for the same. God’s blessings.

  10. As I understand it you are a Protestant. God and you. Jesus loves me this you know for the Bible tells you so. Jesus talks about abundant life. Talks about life so much he is Pro-Life. So if this is the case for you. Take that message proudly. Announce it during the upcoming abortion debate. We can all meditate on the Word. But those who have a voice be the salt,. stand for what is right.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  11. Jesus never hit anyone; He never smacked a person; again I wonder how many people have heard of Dr. Phil McGraw! He’s got an excellent program on TV and he has helped thousands of people going through miserable lives; he is a Christian and he acts, in my opinion, very much like Jesus! Dr. Phil asks questions!
Young boys DO NOT NEED TO BE HIT to ensure they grow up and walk the straight line! It gives me the shivers to think that people still believe that hitting a child, smacking them, is okay!!!!!!!!!
This is unbeliveable and I pray God will forgive those who still think this way!
Catch a child, person doing good! Acknowledge the good thing they did! That builds esteem, builds character, instills in the person that they can make the right decisions,
Lord we need Your help! Bless the parents in today’s world; give them wisdom, grace, mercy and a clear message of Your love to all mankind, help them to be the best parents they can be; bless the children in our world; surround them with Your love, keep them safe…….Thank you Lord for all the blessings of this day……amen
