THE LORD’S JOY

Today’s Reading: Matthew 25

“Mr. and Mrs. Goat” on the West hillside of the Galilee. One never knows when a goat will decide to “butt.”  These two have caused me to think that if I am to be a “good and faithful servant” I should never say “But” to my Lord! The response should always be, “Yes Sir!”

Key Verse: Matthew 25:21

His Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

God has given you at least one gift and perhaps many more. With His gifts come responsibilities. Never hide a gift. Invest in others. You grow what God has given you. What has God given you? Think about it. Talk to your Pastor and a trusted friend about it. Call the Crossroads toll-free Prayer Line and pray with someone (1-866-273-4444). Of course, pray about it yourself. Make decisions and move on those decisions. Ask God to stop you if you are moving in the wrong direction. God is Faithful. He’ll guide you. Move forward with your decisions.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord God, Give me the grace to invest in my family, my community, my church, my friends and aquaintances, and even in far off places. Keep me faithful over the “few things” You’ve given me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I was 16 the first time I tried to preach. I had given my life fully to Christ about two months earlier. The youth leader, Greta O’Brien, asked me to bring the message at a youth service.  As I spoke, they said my face got red, and I lasted all of five minutes. Several months later, I was baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). The next time I preached I studied the Word of God diligently, reading my text and the surrounding verses over and over. I prayed for a long time, making sure I was filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit. The words flowed from my heart, mind and mouth. There was no struggle or embarrassment. I knew that God had given me a gift of preaching His Word!

Thanking God for His gifts,

David

P.S. In this, the beginning of the third two-year journey of 100words.ca, I’m trying to keep to that number of words in each section. I couldn’t help but notice that as I reviewed my blogs from the first 730 days, my comments were becoming longer. Patient, loving readers wrote to me saying things like, “Don’t worry David if you go over.” So I relaxed and each morning between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. I just typed what I believed God had given me. Most days I will revise and refresh what I have previously written. Let’s remember to keep the “main thing the main thing”…that is the faithful daily reading of God’s Word, not necessarily my words about God’s Word!

  1. The Lord desires celebration. His whole focus is on making us whole, peaceful people with a heart’s desire for God. I love this last part of the verse 21 “…Enter into the joy of your Lord”. Could you imagine if our focus, day by day, moment by moment, was dedicated to living in the joy of our Lord? Joy, reconciliation, celebration, it can all be ours in Jesus …. if indeed we are His. Know the joy of the Lord, know Jesus.

  5. thank you for nudging me to keep using my gifts, pastor David! It seems all my life as soon as I try to, there are absolutely insurmountable roadblocks in spite of much prayers and effort…but i’m still slugging and not going to give up!

  6. Good morning, David: Capturing the signature verse framed as…’The Lord’s Joy’ is beautiful! [MT 25:21]. While remaining deeply meaningful because it helped me to tenderly eulogise my wonderful father, decorated CMSGT, who had served honourably God, family, community, and country!
May I also, respectfully, Pastor David, comment on your decision to begin faithfully serving another two years of preaching through your blog. Thank you so much for your dedication because it helps us incalculably avoid making easy compromises…so clearly explained in the Narrow and Wide Gate https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+7%3A13-14.
May God continue to bless you and the historic 54-year-legacy you continue to build, including having already reached (unprecedentedly) the bastions of darkness on a global scale. Consequently, the Holy Spirit continues to be illuminated powerfully by having exercised (measured) boldness together with visionary communication approaches including *revolutionary technology…which, yet again, recently materialized by way of your fabulously engaging Vlog!
    Affectionately in Christ, Linda H.
*I am echoing Scott’s statement (Tues., Jun21-16), “…Crossroads Ministries is current, it’s at the cutting-edge of how we might reach this lost world in this digital age”.

  7. David, I will be praising the Lord for your blog well into my 90’s, Wayne and I do not leave the house each morning without reading it, it is a treasure to us.

I sent your blog (the sinners prayer) to all of my unsaved family members and friends.

    Blessings, Carole

  8. Greetings, fellow bloggers . I’m so thankful for this daily blog! Last night I received word that my dearly loved Sister has been diagnosed as having cancer. I don’t have many details yet and the prognosis is incomplete. She is trusting the Lord for healing and so am I on her behalf. However, I am requesting your intercession for her as well. Thanks and God bless.

    • Oh Heavenly Father, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit, we lift up Beth’s dearly beloved sister to Your throne. Cover her with Your precious Blood, rinse her with Your living water, and cleanse her with Your touch, that she be healed and the cancer be gone from her body. Give her rest and nourish her soul that she be renewed with vitality and energy. In Jesus’ mighty Name, we pray, amen, amen, and amen!

  9. Amen Beverlee for Beth’s sister and also for Eva. Thanks again for your faithfulness in using your gifts and talents David and showing compassion for souls over these many years.
This is a big day for me as I lost a faithful friend of 12 years who was well up in years. He was like a father to me and helped me in many ways to cope with many things in life. I am deeply saddened but at his request I had the privilege of praying the sinner’s prayer with him last October so your choice of key verse today David is very meaningful. Please keep me in prayer. God bless. Ger

  10. Hi David,
Thank you David for blessing us with your daily blog. You are an inspiration, true disciple and a beacon of hope and love in our needy world. It has been my honour to pray for my brothers and sisters in Jesus as a Crossroads Prayer Partner for the past two years. I pledge to be a loyal and dedicated follower of your blog and bible study.I hope to grow in my relationship with Jesus, my wisdom and discernment through the Holy Spirit and understanding of God my Father. I am sorry I joined a bit late. I look forward to your rich teachings as I read God’s word, pray for understanding and listen to God’s response and will for my life. God bless you and your beautiful family for your efforts and hard work.

  11. Hello Mr. Mainse, it was a pleasure to meet you this afternoon. I will say again that I have found your television broadcasts interesting, sincere, and objective. Fortunately for us this is in contrast to the recurring renditions of unsavory characters whose tools are schemes and deceit. Nevermind them, the point is that you are well above that element, with sincere beliefs and empathic desire to benefit your fellow man.

I have met people who, based on appearances, one might not expect to have an opinion on your efforts or even be aware of them, that have lauded you and also found you to be helpful and genuine.

The reason I mention these things above is because I think you deserve abundant respect for your past and continuing efforts at sharing the message and improving many lives, in many places. You have avoided traps of false treasure and strived for any benefits to find their way outward. Because to do so is representative of ‘life’ ie. filling a need that is genuine, ongoing, flourishes when conditions are right. Ultimately growth and sustained expansion is the result. That is quite real. You can take credit for that sustained success of your ministry because you have been exemplary in your deeds.

I am of the opinion that in these days less dogma and more work is key to appealing to young members of society, who in fact are the future of faith, also the many many others who are steadfastly faithful yet still searching. That potential connection needs to be sought out and a tangible link offered that can be easily understood, digested, and accessed readily. Teach all newcomers ‘how to learn’, how to share when appropriate, how to create those conditions.

I am unable to visit on Monday, but hope we will meet again sometime.

Thank you, sincerely, for all you have done. I wish you the very best of luck in your health, and your family too, and continued success in all your missions of service.

I will pray for you and ask for healing where it is needed and continued strength.
