NEW EVERY MORNING

Today’s Reading: Lamentations 3-5

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

This winding road is in Meteroa Greece. Perhaps the road of life resembles this. Most of the time life is up hill like the top left of Reynold’s photograph.

Key Verses: Lamentations 3:22-23

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

It is surprising to find this gem of positive affirmation in the middle of such a sad book as Lamentations. God’s “mercies,” His “lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” That’s worth reading at least twice! On top of that, “They are new every morning!” Could this be a reason for this blog? Then here’s the clincher to understanding the heart of God! “GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS!”

An example of this is the picture on our Canadian $20 bill. Of course, it’s our Queen! For all who read this who are not familiar with the Canadian form of Government, we are a constitutional monarchy. The constitutional monarch, Queen Elizabeth, is our “Head of State.” Those who led Canada into its sovereignty believed that we needed someone above the political process. By its nature politics is messy, but not the Queen, or our Governor General who represents her for Canada, and our Lieutenant Governors who represent her in the Provinces and Territories. This institution of the monarchy illustrates in human terms the “faithfulness” of God. He remains the same! He does not wander from one position to another, as do our political leaders. God is over and above the fray. He is SOVEREIGN! We give to Him His divine right to rule over every area of our lives. “Yes” and “So be it!”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, King of the Cosmos, Absolute Ruler over my life, I kneel before You in complete submission to Your will and purpose for me. You have given me a bill of rights, in that I can come into Your presence daily, presenting my petitions. You have promised that “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37b). That is my promise from You, and You never lie as some in human government do. Thank You for Your GREAT FAITHFULNESS! In the Name of the One the Apostle John saw in his vision of Jesus, the One who will return to earth in great power and glory…the “KING of KINGS!!!” Amen!!! (Revelation 19:16b).

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

There are many twists and turns in the road of life and I tell myself, “Just keep going!” Sometime back Norma-Jean and I bought a GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) unit for our car. Don’t ask me how it works. I just use it! I know that there is a communications satellite parked in a stationary orbit about 22,500 miles above the earth through which a lady I call “Mabel” talks to me, telling me the way to turn at each crossroads. To support Mabel’s spoken word there is a road map on the screen and a purple arrow which points me to my desired destination. Mabel’s words and what I read on the screen are in agreement. Amazing! The odd time there is confusion. The words on the screen say, “Searching for satellite.” I know it’s up there somewhere.

How often on life’s road I’ve had to wait, even pull over to the side of the road, while waiting for my connection with God to be restored. As today’s reading says to God, “Great is Your faithfulness!” He’s always there, and if there is a problem, it’s my fault, not God’s. I simply go back to the instructions (the written Word), follow carefully what I read, and wait for a while. Soon the directions are clear, and there is the still small Voice of God confirming what I’ve read. I begin to move, and as He has promised, He directs my movements (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Yours because God is faithful,

David

P.S. I count among my friends the Hon. David Only and his wife, Ruth Ann. David served for years as the Queen’s representative for the province of Ontario.

  1. Pastor David – You look as though you could hop on to the rear seat of The (former) Honourable David Onley’s motorbike and speed off to Florida…
especially with (I understand) inclement weather soon to come our way.
Great picture of 3 Great people representing this GREAT country of ours-O CANADA- OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND, TRUE PATRIOT LOVE – IN ALL OUR SONS COMMAND…………

  2. Great analogy about the GPS and having to wait occasionally for course direction. Our Lord remains stationary within our hearts and sometimes there’s a brief disconnect we need to attune to. His blessings and strength to all on this wonderful day we have been given. ^

  3. RE. Transgender issue in Alberta:
Yes, I feel very bad and sad for the confused children and families,
But, this is about safety and privacy and about the MAJORITY’s needs.
    Yikes. Watch this short video

Log on to http://www.protectourgirls.ca to see Ezra Levant’s short clip on Alberta NDP forcing schools to let boys into girls change rooms and worse

    • Lord we pray for your intervention against these insane NDP rules and Government demand!!! Thank you Jesus!!!! Amen and Amen!!!

    • Oh, wow, Laurie! Thank you for posting the video. This is a MUST see/hear video. Please, take the time to watch and listen to it. The rights for transgender and gay people make all girls and women vulnerable just so the politicians seem politically fashionable.

Go to: http://www.protectourgirls.ca to sign the petition to the government to call off this dangerous experiment.

  4. What a powerful prayer Pastor David…I joined in prayer with you!!

GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS!!! Prov. 3:5-6 …words I leaned on when my son in his teen years was in a very dangerous situation concerning the “Moonies”.
Praise God, He saved him out of satan’s clutches!!

What a great analogy of the road of life…Reynold’s picture portrays. Thank you Reynold!!! and the picture of you with Hon. David Onley…not quite as good as the one you shared of you on your motorcycle…the joyful expression on your face:)

Always blessed reading your commentaries Pastor David, in reference to the day’s scripture and your personal expositions. I pray for the Lord’s continued healing and strength for you…blessings for all those who assist you in bringing this daily manna for our refreshing in the Lord!

Blessings on all saints thank you for sharing!!!

  5. Love the key verse and song, “Great is Thy Faithfulness” Great photo also of you and Hon. David and Ruth Onley. Cannot believe the video by Ezra Levant. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness for the child of God and you will make everything right someday in this world which is spiraling out of control. Blessings saints!

  6. Thank you Pastor David for your prayer and message, today; and Reynold for the photos. Yes, I especially love the key verses today–a gem of positive affirmation in the middle of a long and sad lamentation.

In Paul’s last letter to Timothy and having the knowledge that his death was imminent, he warned Timothy by telling him to, “mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people” (2 Tim 3:1-5). Certainly, Paul was right that “evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Tim 3:13). Read more: http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/end-times-are-we-in-the-last-days/#ixzz412aucjdM. Certainly, this outlandish situation that is taking over our world, and all our rights as Christians, denied, the end times are nearer than we think. Blessings, dear ones.

  7. Jesus died for ALL people, everywhere, He reigns throughout the WHOLE world! the devil doesn’t stand a chance! Christians please keep praying for God’s Will tobe done on earth as it is in Heaven! Lord God we pray that You will protect our children, we pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Our God, our Redeemer, our Saviour! Our Over-Comer of death, Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed by THY Name!
in regards to the Queen etc etc yes, I know the history, but after all these years I believe the Queen should say “Thank you very much Canada for supporting me, but I am a big girl now and I can look after myself financially” and that should be the end of any fiancial support from Canada, again I say, we have 1/4 million homeless people in Canada and these are people who do work but do not make enough to pay rent and utilities, these are families, with a mom, dad, and children who are in homeless shelters, not all the homeless are dealing with addictions!
also we have some l26 First Nations Reservations without water or sewage treatment facilities!!!!! Come on Canada, cut the purse strings to England now!

  8. the winding road in the picture must have been a real project to undertake! All the turns and bends; very interesting and very pretty!
