PRAY AND BE BLESSED

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 1-2

The Western Wall or “Wailing Wall” is located in the Old City of Jerusalem at the foot of the western side of the Temple Mount. A fence separates the areas where the men pray (the larger space on the left) from where the women pray (on the right).

Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 1:10

Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?

Putting God first, the people second, and himself last was an excellent beginning for young King Solomon. God responded to Solomon’s prayer and gave him such wisdom and favour that Israel rose to even greater prominence and prosperity than ever before. Trade, imports and exports flourished with surrounding nations. When Solomon was blessed by God, so were all the people of Israel, and so were millions of others.

By this time the tent Tabernacle of Moses was at least 500 years old. Building the Temple to permanently house the Ark of the Covenant was essential. The wealth of Israel enabled them to build such impressive structures that people, such as the Queen of Sheba, came to marvel at the wonder of it all.

Had this initial recognition of Solomon’s need for divine guidance continued, the future would have been very different for Solomon’s descendants. But forsaking spiritual purity for business expediency led to spiritual poverty; compromise with the evil practices of surrounding nations eventually led to national disintegration.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, there’s a very serious lesson here for me to learn. Please grant me not only wisdom I pray, but also a consistency of purpose to be spiritually pure, to live a life of holiness, every day, in every way. I ask these mercies in the Name of the One who always did that, Jesus, Himself. Amen!!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Notice the papers in the cracks in the picture below. This act of placing prayer requests in the Wall does not necessarily make prayers more effective, but, like fasting, it underlines the fervency with which we desire God’s will in our individual lives and in the lives of those for whom we pray. I encourage written prayers. The act focuses our attention. I’ve often written my most urgent prayer request, put it on the wall where I pray and also place the request in the centre drawer of my work desk where I cannot miss praying about it several times a day. Often, if the request is not too personal, I’ll drop it in the offering receptacle at church along with my tithe and offering envelope. Along with expressing the need in writing, I also write a statement of my confidence in God’s promise of His provision.

Yours because I believe, like Solomon, that there is a personal God who hears and answers prayer,

David

    A special blessing to fathers this day as we celebrate Fathers Day…
    Have a wonderful blessed day blog friends…

  2. Thank you Pastor David for being like a spiritual father to me that I desperately need in order to know our God more.

    Blessings to you on this special day.

  3. A blessed Father’s Day to all dads and Praise and Thank God for His Divine love and forgivenss for all peoples on earth;
    Many young boys today are missing the mark! Some do not have mentors in their lives!
    Please pray and maybe even e mail our government officials to consider,instead of building more jails, that money needs to go into mentoring programs for our youth; when a family breaks up (and I had this experience) the parent with the children needs alot of support. Children do not understand what the adults have done so they find someway to ease their pain and this starts with smoking, drugs, alcohol, promiscuous behaviour. Children do not understand why mom and dad aren’t together and they need to feed their hurt and anger, so; starts a road of many bad choices;
    children are so hungry for unconditional love; they are just children and they will turn to places, things,people who may seem to care but really do not;
    many of these young boys and girls end up in detention centers and maybe jails.
    90% of the young people in jails today would not be there if the community had come together and gave support to the families who were in crisis!
    there are some individuals who do belong in jail, yes, that is true, but the number is very small.
    So, it means that peole need to speak up and support programs in our communities for our youth!
    I pray that peole who have more than sufficient funds would consider donating funds to the groups in your community that work with youth!
    we need more student music programs; soccer programs, swimming programs, baseball programs, Nature programs, acting classes ;and so many more programs;
    HOWEVER these cost money, and every person can contribute something,
    my prayer is that people firstly pray for our children, ask God how can you help, let young people know that you care about their welfare,
    I even support premartial classes, sex education classes, and I don’t believe these need to be taught in a church, they should be in the education system,
    all in all, pray for our young people,

  4. “Our Father which art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy Name.” Thank you Lord that my father was willing to pray the sinner’s prayer with me before he passed away. God bless you fathers!

  5. yes Sah, I agree much prayer need for our children, youth in particular.

    Thank Heavenly Father, you are the Greatest Father and I praise you, and Pray for your Blessing on fathers everywhere, those who are lost, and confused as to what a father’s roll is, discouraged and disheartened. Lord God I pray that fathers everywhere seek your guidance for encouragement to know who they are in You Lord Jesus. This I pray in Your Name Jesus. Amen!

    • thank you Ger and Irene! I have mentioned in the past I did not have the best of childhoods, HOWEVER with God’s help I have forgiven all the past! Only through Jesus Christ was this possible! OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD! HE REIGNS WITH WISDOM AND LOVE! amen

  6. My father passed away when I was four years old, my sister was two; recently we shared what a loss that was, even and including how it relates to womanhood, as well as the roll as a wife.

    From early childhood, my three sons grew up without a father in the home; they too shared their difficulties through teen years without a male roll model within the home. And their roll as a husband and also that of a father. Praise God, neither one of them turned to drugs or alcohol. But to Jesus Our Savior!!! Praise You Jesus!!!

  7. AMEN to ALL the prayers today! Thank you Father for this beautiful day and all the fresh air and sunshine I enjoyed. I praised your amazing creations in the sky the hills and the river! I love you God Father Son and Holy Spirit with all my heart and mind and soul and strength! Amen.
