RAISED

Today’s Reading: Matthew 26

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

Looking east from the south end of the Old City of Jerusalem you can see the Mount of Olives. The graves of thousands of Jewish people who await the general resurrection dot the hillside. The tower to the left is said to mark the spot from which Jesus ascended into Heaven (Acts 1:9-11).

Key Verse: Matthew 26:32

But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.

It’s difficult to choose a key verse as this chapter is filled with crucial truth for all people. The death and resurrection of Christ is the focal point of all history. It is His story! Once again Jesus states the fact of His death and resurrection and once again His disciples failed to comprehend. This time they were too sleepy to take in truth. Are you wide awake? Are you ready to understand? Understand that when Jesus gives a promise, its fulfillment is absolutely sure! It is impossible for Him to lie! He knew He must die and He also knew He must rise again. This was the reason He came. He also knew the humanity of His followers. They would remember His instructions about meeting Him in Galilee after the resurrection, and they would obey Him.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, as I read Your Words, grant the grace to make those Words an integral element in my spiritual DNA. Please grant me full comphrehension and obedience. I pray this with sincerety and faith that You will do this in me for Your Glory and for the fulfillment of Your plan for my life. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I have been reading your responses to 100words.ca. Thank you for letting me know that you are there with me daily. I turn 78 on August 13th, and as an old-timer I was not sure anyone would bother reading my blog. I don’t really understand the new social media. Come to think of it, I didn’t understand television back on June 2nd, 1962 either. I do know, however, that God gave me the grace of obedience then, and He’s doing so now. If you are blessed and encouraged, or if this blog helps you in the daily discipline of reading the entire Bible in meal-sized portions over two years, then God’s purpose is being fulfilled. Amen! and Amen!

Continuing in obedience,

David

P.S. Yesterday I mentioned my first two times preaching. Someone said to me, “I’ve heard you talk on TV, but I’ve never heard you preach.” Well, here goes! Below is a link to a message I delivered in the mid-90’s at Compass Point Church, which is located next door to the Crossroads Centre in Burlington, Ontario. My opening remarks will seem odd unless I tell you that actor Bruce Marchiano, who played the part of Jesus in The Gospel of Matthew movie, had been quoting Jesus’ words as he walked down the stairs between the pulpit and the congregation. Unfortunately Bruce tripped and fell, but recovered quickly. I was scheduled to preach immediately after Bruce’s last line. That evening we were celebrating the 5,000th 100 Huntley Street telecast. I don’t know of any other time when my preaching was videotaped. It was some years ago, and now we are soon to celebrate the 10,000th telecast (some time next year). If you have the time to handle some preaching, click here (it’s about 13 minutes long). If you think that this message might touch someone, bringing them to Christ, please pass it on! Thank you!!!

  1. Amen to your powerful message, David! This same message prophetically delivered by the prophets about our Messiah and Lord, Jesus Christ! Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.” He who kneels before God can stand before anyone! His strength and blessings, to all!

  2. Oh yes David your blog is helping me and your preaching message was so intense God is working through all who want to be harvesters in the harvest field and speak through us as He did the donkey
praise God Praise God I love you

  3. Yes Pastor your blog is helping me stay on track. I love the pictures and your thoughts. I don’t really care if you’re over the 100 words or not. I keep my focus on God’s Word by making sure I read my chapter FIRST and then check out the blog. That way I can ensure I hear any message God had for me first.
    Thank you for your commitment.

  4. I was at that service and saw the actor slip and make an amazing recovery. They were good days back then! Imagine, a guard calling to confirm that the call was authentic (from death row). Amazing. God is good. We can sing a capella, “Into My Heart”!

  5. David don’t ever think your messages are not reaching individuals . ! Every morning I look for your blog and it is first to be read on my daily journey ,.,,
Your words are Oxygen to my Soul. !
When my heart was homeless it found a home through your teaching and your prayer staff.
As Winston Churchill said ….” Never , Never give up ! ”
    Thank you and Shalom.

  6. Joy Smith, member of Parliament in Manitoba is such a champion of Bill C-36. Will try to help make a difference with these people. The young couple on your show trying to get help for the prostitutes is to be highly commended. Would love to see their movie(s).
You’re not an old, old-timer Rev. DM. George Bush jumped out of a helicopter when he turned 90 so u have a way to go yet:-)
Will watch your preaching video when time permits and thanks so much for sharing it.
    Blessings to all.

  9. His mercy endureth FOREVER!!!!

Having listened to your preaching, you are truly anointed by God, and I am blessed every single day by receiving fresh bread on this blog.

I am sure most of us at one time sang “Into my heart, Lord Jesus”. Another song I love is “I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me”!

Blessings to all on this another day The Lord has given us.

  11. Thank you David! This time around I am actually reading though all the scripture, and not just reading the blog. I am learning more and more of Jesus’ love for us. By reading through the Bible again, I have read through it once front to back, I am finding that I am understanding so much more. Also, I am learning by listening and writing notes in church and Bible studies.

Many blessings and understanding of HIS word to you and all who are and will be reading this blog and the suggested chapters in the Bible.

    Your sister in Christ

  13. Thank you so much. My mom watched Huntley Street daily for many years. I grew up watching Huntley Street too. This year I lost both my parents and reading your blog makes me feel close to them. I am so encouraged at your willingness to embrace new media and new technology. You are never too old to be useful in the Kingdom of God. I want to be an “on fire” 78 year old 🙂 Thank you for your wonderful service to the King.

sermon David . We need a revival O Lord Amen Amen Amen….R….

  16. Thank You,Thank You,Thank You, I have always waited until evening to read my bible but now I look forward to reading and listening first thing every morning. I’m so thankful for you and what the Lord has done and you willingness to follow where he leads you. I pray God’s richest blessings on you.

  17. My friend told me about your blog and I enjoy it very much. The pictures are so interesting and I look forward to your 100 words. I was so blessed the other day when you talked about how we can “always be ready” for Christ’s return… by being obedient, reading the Word, praying. Thank you.

  18. The message that you delivered, Pastor David, brought such blessing, and encouragement, and its truth never goes out of fashion! We had the privilege of hearing you at Braeside Camp two years ago, and the message that you brought was also Holy Spirit anointed. Thank you for your faithfulness.

  19. Moving message, David and striving to move forward in obedience to God’s Word. My brother who was recently diagnosed with cancer found out yesterday that the cancer has not spread and he does not have to take any treatment. Praise God, He is faithful and He knows how to speak to the hearts of men!

  20. Thank you for your prayers for my brother and Lord God bring all our families to Yourself that not one of them be lost for all eternity in Jesus Name. Amen.

  21. I have often thought about what I would do when confronted with the decision the disciples had to make.
I think of the many in this day who when tortured for their faith are able to stand firm and continue to hold fast and not deny Jesus as their Lord and Saviour!!!
And the many through the years; and in particular the 12 disciples who after they were persecuted, tortured and killed did not deny Jesus.

Lord Jesus, I pray that you give me the strength and courage to stand firm to the end in all circumstances that You be glorified in me.

  22. Dear David
Thank you for your soft tender heart and your burning desire to win the lost…at any cost! Billy and I love you and NormaJean. I read your blog everyday and read it Billy. It lifts our hearts toward the King of King and Lord of Lords. Loved your message. Praise God for HIS healing hand upon you so we can continue to be blessed by your words and prayers that we read each day. God bless, Billy and Mina Ryce.

    • Dear David. God bless you for your faithfulness. What a great message. I read your blog everyday, and I read it to Billy. Praise God for HIS healing hand upon you. We benefit spiritually because he spared you. We love you, and may The Lord give you strength each day as you continue to serve HIM. God bless, Billy and Mina Ryce

  23. Dear Rev. David Mainse

Just heard your sermon, and felt the anointing that was upon you. I will pass it on to my Niece, who at one time prayed the sinners prayer, but as far as I know does not attend church.

Bruce Marchiano portrayal of Jesus was one of the most realistic of any other that I have seen.

  24. Thank you Catherine. My brother knows he was being prayed for and he was very pleased to get such a report. As we are faithful, God is faithful. Amen? Today he is seeing a doctor in Halifax concerning glaucoma. God bless you sister.
