Key Verse: Matthew 22:29

Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God…”

There are different denominations in Christianity. There are also denominations in Judaism. The Pharisees were the traditionalists who had added much to the Scriptures. Jesus said that they had made the Word of God ineffective by their traditions (Matthew 15:6). The Sadducees were another group. They practiced Judaism’s rituals but did not believe in Biblical truths such as miracles, and in particular, they denied the resurrection of the dead. Jesus was not with either group. He calls His followers to KNOW THE SCRIPTURES and to KNOW THE POWER OF GOD.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I pray for the discipline of daily reading and studying the Scriptures. I also pray that I will know Your power. You promised that, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). My heart is wide open to receive Your Holy Spirit. In Your Name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Every morning I spend time reading and studying God’s Word. I ask and believe God to speak to me through my reading. God speaks first. I get to know the Scriptures. Then it’s my turn to speak. I get on my knees and pray. I pray for understanding of what I’ve read. I pray for my wife, my children, grandchildren and my great-grandchildren by name, and circumstance. I then pray for all others whose needs I am aware of. I pray for all you who read this blog that you will know the Scriptures and the power of God. I pray specifically for all by name who lead in the Church and in the various ministries of which I am aware. Then I spend time in worship, so that I may soak in God’s presence. Now it’s almost 6 a.m. Time to post this blog to you. Thank you very much for doing me the honour of joining me.

Praying for you,

David

P.S. Yesterday I shared a picture of our 1977-1992 building located at the 100 Huntley Street address in Toronto. When our lease concluded, I searched in vain for another building in Toronto to rent, but it was not to be. Therefore, we moved a few miles down the QEW highway (Queen Elizabeth Way) to the western tip of Lake Ontario at Burlington, where, by God’s grace and the support of God’s people, we built the Crossroads Centre. For 22 years now “Day unto day,” and “Night unto night” the Word of the Lord has gone forth from this building. The support of people who care about the cause of Christ continues. I consider Crossroads Christian Communications Incorporated to be an absolutely essential service for the cause of Christ. Wonderful people who work in this building have helped me develop and maintain this daily blog. Thank You Lord! Thank You everyone!

  1. Powerful prayer this morning, David! Honoured to join you and fellow saints on this blog, each morning.

Out of Zion, the prefection of beauty, God has shined!
    Psalm 50:2

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Pet 2:21

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Pet 2:9

We have nothing to do in the world but to do God’s will. And we will do His will by just taking His simple words of instruction.
The children of Israel were destroyed because of murmuring, because of unbelief. “Neither Murmur ye!” (I Cor. 10:10)
God wants us to learn never to think, never to speak unbelief. Murmuring is unbelief.
If God does not rule all of your thoughts, words, and actions, He is not Lord at all.
The Word of God is given for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (I Tim. 3:16). If this Word is allowed to work in us and accomplish that whereunto it is sent, then all the exceeding great and precious promises we find in the Scriptures will also be fulfilled, and His blessings will flow far as the curse is found.
When I follow Jesus, others will follow me.”

    Blessings, dear saints.

  2. Our Lord loves us more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime! Thank You Father for BEING in all our lives, so we can love You with our whole being. Help us to love others AS ourself this day, and every day of our lives, until our resurrection home. His strength and blessings, to all!

      • David as I was reading your blog this morning, after reading Matthew 22, I was thinking how you have reached out to so many with the Love of Christ. You have humbled yourself in so many ways, reached into the dark places to help save the lost and broken and bring them to Christ. You seem more alive than ever by becoming humbled and walking, or riding, among the people who are going about their daily business.

Today I am going out among the people who are going about their daily business, may HIS light shine through me.

Today I will be joining in the Aboriginal Days celebration today in my city with many other folks, in Vernon BC, and I pray that the LORD will use me to reach out to the hurting and the lost. My Mom is of Aboriginal descent therefore I carry that gene with me, but really I am my FATHER in heavens child.

Thank you David and thank you JESUS for loving us!

  3. From your teaching today David… “They practiced Judaism’s rituals but did not believe in Biblical truths such as miracles, and in particular, they denied the resurrection of the dead. Jesus was not with either group. He calls His followers to KNOW THE SCRIPTURES and to KNOW THE POWER OF GOD.”

For those who don’t believe – The power of God includes healing and miracles which is true today as it was then… Amen!

Have a blessed day brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen!

  4. I wonder why Jesus spoke to people in parables instead of plain English, Greek or Hebrew?
Being a follower of Jesus’ teachings and not Judaism teachings makes me feel like a new, improved Christian.
The honour is mine Rev. DM to be studying under your guidance;yours and all those helping you daily with this blog.
    Enjoy the daily pics.
Nothing to do with our study, but I often wonder what God did before he created us. Sometime I’ll ask Him.
God bless us all on this rainy, first day of summer.

  5. It is a great privilege to join with you in prayer Pastor David and to receive our hot bread each morning to read, study and meditate on.

We are so blessed to know we are the children of The Most High God. Thank you Jesus for your gift of salvation and the Holy Spirit who lives within.

Lynda, I believe the parables made it easier for people to relate to every day things in their lives.

How blessed we are to be able to read God’s Holy Word so freely, let us never take it for granted but open and absorb it each day.

Thank you Pastor David and all who take part in baking our fresh bread each day. Love in Christ to all.

  6. Well I certainly have murmured. I try to remember that God knows the reason & has His plan. Sometimes that is hard, especially when I see people so very challenged. I must really trust Him. I love His Word & know it is true. Someday we will know!

  7. Dear Rev. Davod Mainse

Thank God for your initiative in and obedience to God’s guidance in bringing this ministry into fruition. It is a ministry we Canadians and Canada as a Nation should and are proud of and thankful to God for.

I was in the “100 Huntley Street” building in Toronto attending one of your TV programs, as well as in the present location, and I Praise God for what He is doing in and through that ministry in reaching souls for Christ.

Thank you for the photo of the Burlington Crossroads Centre, it stand out with great dignity and stature for the Glory of God!!!

  8. Good morning David. Thank you for your blog and the pictures. I especially love those with family members. I bless you and your family each morning and I am always so grateful that you are in my life. I’ve been to Burlington and was amazed with the peace that is felt upon entering. I was there when the Tabernacle was on display, I met some very nice people during my visit.
