At the entrance to the modern city of Jerusalem is a light rail bridge, known as the Jerusalem Chords Bridge. It was built in 2008 and symbolizes King David's harp.

Key Verse: Psalm 34:1

I will bless the Lord at all times;

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

The words, “the Lord,” occur 26 times in these two Psalms. There’s a saying about “the Lord”… that “He’s either Lord of all or not at all!” There should be no half-way measures in our faith! The Apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3). The primary work of the Spirit of God in the earth is to make Jesus known as Lord of all. This blog is intended as an extension of that sublime purpose.

How do we “bless the Lord?” We please Him! We worship Him! We live a life which brings the smile of His approval! We read His Word and meditate on His Word daily! We pray in faith, believing Him for His response! We share His Message in our personal witness and in our support for ministries that are proven by researched fact to be effective in reaching the peoples of the world with the Good News of Jesus’ death, resurrection and the gift of forgiveness of sin and eternal life through Jesus Christ. So we can list some of the ways we bless God. Now let us think of the ways He has blessed us and is blessing us. It’s no wonder that we identify with King David when he writes, “His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Hallelujah! We magnify You O Lord! Bless Your holy name! Amen! Amen!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray that I will do as David did, “Taste and see that the Lord is good!” Grant that I will experience Your blessed Presence at all times. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Norma-Jean, my wife, is a multi-tasker. My tendency is to focus on one thing at a time. I guess that’s one of the general differences between men and women. However, I’m learning to multi-task in my commitment to King David’s statement, “His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” I don’t always speak the words of praise out loud, but they are there in my mouth at the tip of my tongue. It’s the same with Paul’s encouragement to “Pray without ceasing and in everything give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

I do my best to read all the comments sent in response to this blog or those commenting on the response of others. They are all excellent! Thanks for blessing me in this way. I’d love to repeat all the comments for those who don’t get to read them. However, there is one from someone by the name of “David T.” I happen to know that he has his Doctor of Education degree. So let’s allow this teacher to teach us. This was a response from a few days ago when we read together Psalm 27… (click here and look for the 2nd comment).

By the way, when I put the words, “Bless the Lord” into the google search engine, a little line at the top said, “21,000,000 results in .25 seconds.” Obviously we’re not alone in blessing the Lord!

Yours for blessing and being blessed!

David

  1. Thank you Pastor David!!! You are a blessing to all of us!!!

I have been doubly blessed – I was adopted as a teenager into a Godly home and I was adopted by Christ when I asked Him to forgive my sins and come and live in my heart and life. I have a wonderful Godly husband of 41 years and 3 grown children who all serve the Lord and their spouses and 8 grandchildren. I am truly blessed and I thank God daily for His Blessings!!!!

Count your blessings, name them one by one
Count your blessings, see what God has done
Count your blessings, name them one by one
Count your blessings, see what God has done!!!

Bless all our blog-buddies today Lord!!

  2. I found the comment by David T about focussing on our Lords image and promises, to be very inspiring. I Bookmarked Chris Tomlin’s song, “Whom Shall I Fear.” Reading the various blogger responses has been wonderful, adding perspective, colour and insight to each day’s reading. I know many of us check in throughout the day to see what was contributed, and add our prayers and support when feeling compelled to do so. Bless the Lord and bless this day, to all!

  3. I especially love the end verses of Psalm 34, 18-22:

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.

    Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.

Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.

Indeed, we are reminded to keep our eyes on Jesus. When the devil tries to throw us off center by any means, let us picture Him in our mind, as David T. suggested.

God, we thank you for the continuous blessings of this daily blog. We love you, David Mainse! We are nothing without You. We are everything with You! All for the love of Jesus!

    Be blessed, fellow saints!

  4. I always sing

  5. Bless THE LORD o my soul, and forget not all His benefits.

How truly blessed we are when Jesus is our strong foundation and everlasting Saviour.

I am very blessed by this blog and ask your prayers for this Thurs. when our family will be faced with a huge trial and unspoken request. OUR GOD IS ABLE and we trust Him for the outcome.

    Blessings to all.

  6. Hi David and blogging friends, When l read again David T’s comments it is similar to something l’ve often done. l purchased a painting depicting Jesus hugging a small child in his arms, he is really loving up on him(her). Sometimes it’s me up there on the picture being hugged and other times it’s whoever l am burdened for. It’s Amazing how comforting this can be!

  7. Where do I find your blessings Lord
in the bosom of family and friends?
Do I find them in my home,
in my closet, pantry or den?
Do I find them in the building we called a church
in phrases and prayers worn and words
    put to musical notes?
Do I find them in the smile of a stranger,
in a random act of kindness done?
Perhaps I will find them in the laughter of a child
or in eyes of a senior whose life’s journey is nearly done.

These are all truly gifts, for which I am thankful beyond compare
yet I find your blessings in the oddest places, do I dare to share?
I find them on my tear stained pillow when I cry to You alone at night.
I find them in my heart broken by sin, pride and strife.
I find them in those who beats me down
to keep me in my place
I find them in my dreams, where I finally can see your face.
I only have blessing Lord, this much is I know is true
my only treasured blessing Lord, is you.

  8. “I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in you, Lord:
The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt
    His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and
delivered me from all my fears.”
    (Psalm 34:1-4)
That is a song. I am blessed by your blog, David M, David T(and song) plus fellow bloggers. It is what I needed today, when life throws one of its curveballs at you. Blessings everyone!

  9. Dear Rev. David M. and precious fellow bloggers,
Having being troubled these past two days by all the horrors in Egypt , ethiopia and Pakistan and even natural disasters and sudden deaths caused by an accident between train and the bus in Ontario , it is then so comforting to know that The Lord is right there in the midst of it all.
The Lord foils the plans of the nations,
He thwarts the purpose of the peoples
but the plans of The Lord stand firm forever,
the purose of His Heart through all generations.
And may I also add Psalm 27 ,
The Lord is my light and my salvation
    of whom shall I fear
The Lord is a strong hold of my life whom shall I be afraid of
PS. Catherine we will be keeping you in prayers for Thursday .
    Have a blessed day everyone.
    xxxx Carole.

  12. David T and his wife and wonderful dog were here for the weekend. I had promised him your book, This Far by Faith. When they were ready to go home I asked if they had your book. They assured me it was safely packed in the car already. Now I have to get two more. My husband was half way through his second time. That book let me in on so many things that I had no idea you were involved in. It is a keepsake. Thank you for going to all the work of writing it. Thank you also to your helpers. Elaine B.

  13. I wish I could play the harp like David. What joy he had! I just discovered 100 words today. An answer to a prayer months ago. Thank you Pastor David Mainse and team. Christ is alive! Christ is everywhere! Christ has our backs! He wants our attention. He wants our hearts. I want David’s joy. These daily readings will reveal Christ to me like never before. It already has today. I am forever changed. I have joy! Blessings to all. Photos and maps – fun.
