CLEAN!!!

Suggested Reading: 2 Chronicles 11-12

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

During his years of ministrey in Assiut Egypt, my father, Roy Lake Mainse, wrote out the words of a favourite hymn that he lived by that was written by J. B. Coats. This piece of paper was kept inside the cover of his Bible. He wrote the first part as a constant reminder of the importance of God's Word and the second part heralds the importance of truth (click on the photo to enlarge for easier reading).

Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 12:14

And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.

There is always a cause for any effect! King Rehoboam would listen to the voice of the Lord and Judah would prosper. But when prosperity and success were granted, he would forsake God’s laws, and very shortly afterward they were in trouble again. It’s not that God moved away; it was the king and other leaders who moved away from God.

The prophet reminded Rehoboam of his sinfulness and again the king and priests humbled themselves before God. Therefore, they escaped destruction. Like Rehoboam, we will inevitably get into trouble when we fail to seek God. When we begin to do our own thing and not God’s, trouble is not far behind! Let us return daily to the Lord, so that the enemy will not prevail.

As our key verse reminds us to prepare our hearts to seek the Lord, so does this daily blog. Let’s stick together on this journey. Please be reminded that anyone can start at any time, and in two years we’ll complete the entire Bible. Amen! Amen! Amen!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, who lives in every believer in Jesus as Saviour and Lord, keep me in a daily, living relationship with You. Thank You for this fresh bread to eat every day. In Jesus’ name I praise and worship You! Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Besides the words written in the photo above, I also found written inside the front cover of my Dad’s old Bible these words, “Sin will keep you from this book, and this book will keep you from sin!” The Apostle Paul wrote about the fact that the Word cleanses us and washes us with the “Water of the Word.” Why do we need this cleansing? To produce “A glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing.” We are to be “Holy and without blemish.” The daily washing of the Word will accomplish this goal! (Ephesians 5:26-27).

I grasped the concept of constant cleansing in my late teens. It was from a sermon my Dad preached on 1 John 1:5-10.

Yours for consistency in being washed by the Word of God,

David

  1. Thank you, our Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour and King, and the sanctity of the Holy Spirit, that lives and breathes in us–your saints. We are strengthened by reading and consuming the daily bread of Your Word. We are cleansed, washed and purified by soaking in the ‘Water of Your Word’. We are nothing without You and everything with You. We cannot go a moment of a day without You with us, Lord. We are your sheep who follow you to the gates of heaven. Let us praise you on high and sing out Your Name. Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lamb of God, almighty. Your Will be done, Thy Kingdom come, on earth, as it is in heaven.

Holding many dear ones up in prayer, today–David Mainse, Ger, Heather, and all who need the touch of the Lord upon them. In the name of Jesus, we pray–amen, amen, and amen!

    Blessings to all saints, today.

    • Thank you Beverlee….lovely words of encouragement and I too add my prayers for those in need of a healing touch, and especially those who do not yet have Jesus as their Saviour. Bless your day sister in The Lord.

  2. Thank you for sharing such a treasure in your fathers handwriting about Gods Word and Truth. By reading scripture daily I can readily determine where I am and where I am heading. It’s like GPS guidance prompted by the Holy Spirit and inspired by Gods Word and prayer. Without it, it is flying in cloud without any navigation and telling myself I am not lost!! I will be away three blocks of time throughout this summer without my iPad, but will be sure to continue reading the daily scriptures from my bible in the sections you have outlined. Then, return and read your writings and that of fellow bloggers. Your blog has been a fascinating and inspirational journey which I have shared with others. Moreover, your book “This Far By Faith” is a “God send” of enlightenment, inspiration and encouragement! Have a great day, fellow bloggers!!

  3. Oswald J. Smith had the same message printed in his Bible – This book will keep me from sin and, sin will keep me from this book. I was priviledged to have him and then his son, Paul B. Smith, as pastors years ago. I would ask for prayer for Donna today. She is very handicapped and is having a painful inflamation in her gums. I have to go away over-night today and am concerned about her. (she is in a nursing home, but getting good dental help is hard). I don’t think my husband and I could manage to get her to a regular dentist. She needs an appliance to lift her. I am taking my Table with me to the hotel! Thank you for the message today and prayer for my sister, Donna.

    • Heavenly Father we ask you to lead Doreen to a dentist who would be willingly to go her friend Donna, to help her with inflammation, and in the meanwhile, we pray that you will less Donna’s discomfort and give her a sense of relief. We ask you to give Doreen peace of mind knowing her friend is in your care tonight and always Amen.

    • Precious Lord, we pray for Donna and the discomfort she is having, and pray you will bring her ease of pain and a dentist to help reduce the inflammation. Give Doreen peace about this as she is away and let her know You will take care of Donna while she is gone.

  4. Starting my day with God’s Holy Word and your blog, has been a great blessing to me. I am 80 years young and have had 2 surgery for cancer and have had a heart valve that had given me a problem. Our God is so Very Good, and watching Huntley Street from the beginning I just want to tell you, you so lift my spirit each morning and of lately as you running in front of the camera. I want to thank you for the great work you do for the Kingdom of our Lord. Praise HIS Name for ever. p.s. we live on a hill above the river in Medicine Hat, God speaks and we should listen and heed His love for us.

  5. I read this blog this morning; posted my prayer for Doreen’s friend, who shares my name; click off and went about my morning chores. However something kept nagging at me that I felt it was important to say. I know the majority of those reading this blog are most likely born again believers, but for those who are not I want to clarified something.
The saying in Mr. Mainse’s bible is a useful way to remind believers it is important to read God’s word but it is not a spiritual truth. Reading Scripture alone will not keep someone from sinning- in fact history has shown people can read Scripture, twist the context and use the Word of God to justify anything from slavery to domestic violence to murder. Cult leaders have done that, and Satan himself tried to use God’s word to tempt Jesus to sin.
Jesus himself was frustrated at the religious leaders in his day, who knew God’s word inside and out but did not practice it in the manner in was intended. Jesus knew as important as it was to know the Word and to hear it, it was more important that once you did you actually put into practice as God intended it.
On the flip side if you are a believer and you are caught in some kind of sin, or if you are a sinner who hasn’t accepted God’s means for forgiveness, namely Jesus Christ as your Lord– then you need God’s word more than anyone, so don’t let sin in your life stop you from reading from the Bible– the Good book isn’t for good people, it is for all of us who need God’s guidance to be who God created us to be.

Therefore the saying sin will keep you away from this book and this book will keep you away from sin, maybe a useful reminder for the believer so I’m not knocking it— just thought it should be made clear, it is not a spiritual truth, just in case a non-believer reads it and misunderstands it.

    • Those whom read scripture and profess their beliefs, yet behaviourally present an opposing message are delusional. They subscribe to their own agenda, not Gods. We are given the ability to discern, providing we remain objective and tapped into scripture. Truth, as scripture reveals, not mankind.

  6. I am truly blessed by reading this blog every day, and the words of encouragement from my fellow believers.

Thank you Pastor David for continuing to serve The Lord each day, even under difficult health situations. Thank you for sharing the poem above ( I have already sent it on) and I pray for each of us to renew ourselves each day in reading and soaking up The Word.

God’s Word IS a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Blessings on this day The Lord has given us.

  7. I just wanted to say I seen you David Mainse this morning riding in on your red scooter on 100 Huntley Street and your looking great and that was very motivating. I have been doing this bible study with you from the beginning and love reading the blogs and seeing the pictures posted by your son. May God continue to pour out his blessings on you and Norma Jean and all the faithful followers/bloggers. God Bless!

    • I just seen Catherines’s posting above me and needed to respond. I have a hard time memorizing scripture but Psalm 119:105 is the one that has stuck in my head. God is amazing how he works in mysterious ways we just need to have our eyes open and ready to receive. Amen!

  8. I am replying to Donna M Thank you for your thoughts. I know from my life’s work that many read the scriptures and are not changed. I worked with people with mental illness and they walked around reading the Bible . It is the Holy
Spirit as it says in Ephesians 1 , to ask for Godly wisdom, revelation and understanding of the Word of God.
Bless each of you who blog faithfully. I enjoy reading them. Thank you Pastor David for your daily teaching I am enjoying and benefiting from it so much.
God bless all of your family.

  9. Hi David, You are looking fantastic and energized, it’s so wonderful to see you on the 100 Huntley Street program so often this month. l want to give you a big hug! Thanks for sharing another of your father’s writings. What a Blessing! Regarding the reading for today, my heart rejoiced when l read 2Chron 11:16 From all the tribes of Israel those who sincerely wanted to worship the Lord, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem, where they could offer sacrifices to the Lord, the God of their ancestors. That means that the true believers will always find an open door to the Lord’s presence and he always has a remnant to continue to serve and worship him,no matter what happens! There was a remnant of all the tribes of Israel who were true believers in Judah worshiping together! l Love it! Our God is Faithful! Have a great day everyone!

  10. Dear David M. and precious fellow bloggers
What a fabulous entry you made this morning on 100 Huntley Street . Dont you dare stop that young man in you . We love it ! .
Asking Our Great Physician to direct the proper dentist for Donna and in the meantime let the inflammation subside in Jesus name Amen and Amen.
May the Word of God wash us , purify us remembering that we are in a world where satan will constantly try to move us away from being Holy and it is only through prayer repent and trust in the Holy Spirit that we will stay rooted and grounded unmovable and unchanged .
Have a blessed day fellow saints.
    xxxx Carole.

  11. Thank you for prayers for Donna. I stoped by the nursing home today and left some Orajel ointment for the nurse to apply to her gums. She wrote the info on her record and she ill watch Donna also. I return to the area tomorrow (more relieved because of your prayers) and then we will see how she is. I phoned 100 Huntley prayer lines this a.m. as well. I can rest in peace over her care tonight. Thank you all so much. Donna is my sister.

    • Sorry Doreen, I misunderstood, who Donna was in your life, many Christians called fellow female Christians their sister so that is how I read your post. I have a sister and she is one of my dearest friends, so I hope you were not offended I called Donna your friend in my earlier posts. She is very blessed to have such caring, and devoted sister like you to watch over her and I will say an extra prayer for her tonight before I go to bed.
